Gym Essentials...

The last few weeks I have been having a personal trainer once a week. This has changed my view of the gym, health and fitness and nutrition so much. I always wanted to be a gym bunny, but never quite got the dedication,  it's hard for me to stay on track, especially having a full time job, but one session with my trainer, even if I physically feel like I cannot get through the session, and I'm back on track. It's like your not even conscious when you're training, you just do what they tell you until it's over. I push so much harder than I would do alone and I highly, highly recommend getting a trainer to start you off if you are serious about getting fit. I'm definitely on the right track for hopefully, a prospering gym life for the foreseeable future±!

So saying that I thought these bits would fit in quite nicely to a post, as they are the things I use everytime I workout.

My Protein True Meal Replacement - When you think protein shakes, you think Guido juiceheads, well I do anyway, but that really isn't the case. If you work out quite regularly, protein shakes, bars or snacks are a really good thing to get in the routine. I use this one if I'm working out early or have a long day at work and know I'm going to miss a meal, or perhaps not going to have a meal as it's too late, for instance, I sometimes work until 9pm so it's far too late to eat dinner, but I do get a bit peckish. This is a great alternative to things like slim fast etc if you want a much more nutritious and filling meal replacement. I have the flavour Chocolate Mint and I have to say, it's not half bad, defo not as good as a Mcdonald's milkshake but pretty pleasant I suppose you'd say.

PHD Woman Support & Recovery - I found this brand through an amazing fashion & fitness blogger, Lydia Elise Millen. She's a brand ambassador and I really like that it's a protein range specifically aimed at women. This one is a lot lighter and less filling than my My Protein one as this is designed to have before or  after a workout to help support your muscles during your workout and then recover and repair as efficiently as possible after the workout, to ensure minimal strain and maximum tone (don't I sound totes pro?!) I have the Strawberry Delight flavour and again, it's no Nesquick, but it's fine for what I need it to do.

Pretty Athletic Pre & Post Workout Skincare - This could be seen as abit gimmicky but I actually really like this range. I think the idea is fantastic and is great to just keep in your gym bag so you always have some skincare instead of raiding your bathroom cupboards 2 minutes before you leave. I use the Cool Down Purifying Facial Cleanser containing cucumber, chamomile and aloe vera so great for soothing and cooling the skin after an intense sweaty workout, as well making sure all those sweaty nasties are completely gone! I then follow with Perfect Balance Calming Facial Moisturiser which contains menthol, witch hazel and aloe vera so again, really soothing & cooling on the skin and great for reducing redness, I go bright like a lobster after a hard session so need all the help I can get! It also sinks in straight away so you don't feel any residue and makeup goes over it really well. The other great thing about this brand is that 97% of ingredients come from natural sources as well as no parabens, silicones, sulfates or mineral oils, perfect!

Nike Free Run 5.0 - I loooooove these trainers. So comfortable and great for working out as well as being pretty chic for normal wear so I don't feel I have to change my shoes when I leave! You can't get this colour way anymore unfortunately but I highly recommend these trainers whether working out or working the high street.

  4. I've been umming and ahhing over whether to fork out the money for protein shakes and the like.. but whenever I go to purchase them I get a voice in my head going "surely you can get all the protein you need from eating the right natural foods"... but then I don't eat the right foods anyway so it's a vicious cycle :P but I think you've convinced me (cos yes, you totes sound like a pro :P).
